Davutoglu in Yemen

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Sunday visited cemetery of Turkish martyrs in Yemeni capital Sana'a, where he laid a wreath and said that Turks considered many other lands in the world as their own land and fought for justice and honor on those lands. Davutoglu said that there were nearly 300,000 Turkish soldiers died in Yemen in the history, recalling that that Yemen and Turkey had 400 years of common history. As part of his contacts in Yemen, Davutoglu also opened Sana'a office of Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA) on Sunday. Speaking at the ceremony, Davutoglu said that Yemen was passing through a historical period, and Turkey was supporting Yemen with its all possible facilities. Davutoglu added that Turkey was ready to do its best regarding the national consensus in Yemen. Speaking for his part, Yemen's Prime Minister Muhammad Salim Ba-Sindwah said that Yemen was proud of Turkey as a regional partner, expressing hope that Turkey will also be an international power in the near future. The opening ceremony was also attended by Ahmet Davutoglu's wife Sare Davutoglu and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's daughter Sumeyye Erdogan.
